Approval of Trinity Oaks Mitigation Bank in Freestone County

Ironwood Resource Advisors is pleased to announce the recent approval of the Trinity Oaks Mitigation Bank (TOMB) located in Freestone County, Texas. The project was signed and approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in March 2025, ahead of the anticipated schedule. The Trinity Oaks Mitigation Bank is set to generate nearly 10,000 TxRAM stream credits, providing essential resources for environmental conservation and development projects in the region.

Over the past several years, Texas has witnessed remarkable growth along the I-45 corridor, a vital route connecting the major cities of Dallas and Houston. The Trinity Oaks Mitigation Bank is strategically situated within the Lower Trinity-Tehuacana (HUC 12030201) watershed of the Lower Trinity basin. This location will serve projects in the Lower-Trinity Kickapoo (HUC 12030202), an area that has historically offered limited stream mitigation options for developers.

Located near Fairfield, Texas, the Trinity Oaks Mitigation Bank is now available to support development across the rapidly expanding Texas Triangle, extending from Dallas to Madison County and surrounding areas.

Mitigation banks like Trinity Oaks provide a vital private sector solution for off-site compensatory mitigation for impacts to jurisdictional wetlands and streams, as authorized by the USACE under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. This initiative not only aids in compliance with environmental regulations but also promotes sustainable development practices.
